Guy Allion Pinot Noir — Light Loire Red via Emile Wines
Guy Allion Pinot Noir is a juicy, fruit-forward red from the Touraine region of the Loire Valley — light ruby, bursting with red cherries and strawberries, with a touch of cinnamon and beautifully soft structure. It's Emile Wines' house red for a reason: delicious, easy-drinking and priced for everyday.
Pinot Noir that doesn't take itself too seriously
This isn't trying to be Burgundy and it doesn't need to be. It's a light, refreshing Pinot Noir from the Loire — all about the fruit, with just enough structure to keep things interesting. Red cherry, strawberry, a whisper of spice, balanced acidity and soft, silky texture. The grapes come from old vines planted in 1974 on clay-limestone slopes above the Cher river, and the wine is aged 10 months in third-use French oak — enough to smooth the edges without overpowering the fruit.
The lighter red you actually want to drink
If you've been looking for a red that's not heavy, not complicated and not boring, this is it. Serve it slightly chilled at around 12–15°C and it becomes the perfect warm-weather red — or the perfect midweek pour when you want something gentler than a full-bodied Rhone. At 12%, it's lighter than most reds, which means you can pour a second glass without thinking twice.
Proper value from a proper estate
Domaine Guy Allion has been making wine in Touraine for four generations. Cedric Allion, who runs the estate now, trained in Beaune — the heart of Burgundy — and brought that Pinot Noir know-how back to his family's Loire vineyards. The estate follows the Terra Vitis sustainability programme, keeping chemicals out of the vineyard and letting the limestone and flinty clay soils do their thing. The result is a Pinot Noir with real finesse at a price that makes Burgundy producers weep.

Frequently asked questions
What does Guy Allion Pinot Noir taste like?
It's a light, fruit-forward Pinot Noir with red cherry, strawberry and a touch of cinnamon on the palate. Soft, silky texture with balanced acidity and gentle oak influence from 10 months in third-use French barrels. At 12% ABV, it's lighter than most reds — bright, juicy and very easy to drink.
What food pairs with Guy Allion Pinot Noir?
It's versatile — roast chicken, mushroom dishes, charcuterie, game, and soft cheeses all work beautifully. It's also brilliant slightly chilled alongside a simple pasta or risotto. Think comfort food rather than formal dining.
Can I get Guy Allion Pinot Noir delivered in Bristol?
Yes. All Natty offers same-day delivery across Bristol (BS1–BS16) — order before 2pm, delivered by 8pm. It's £3.50 locally or free on orders over £40. We also ship UK-wide with 2-day priority delivery, and you can collect free from our Willway Yard bottle shop.
Should you chill Guy Allion Pinot Noir?
A light chill works well — around 12–15°C, which is slightly below room temperature. Twenty minutes in the fridge before serving takes the edge off and makes the fruit character pop. It's a light Pinot Noir, so don't be afraid to treat it more like a chilled red than a room-temperature sipper.
How does Touraine Pinot Noir compare to Burgundy?
Touraine sits in the central Loire Valley and shares Burgundy's limestone-rich soils, making it one of the few French regions that produces quality Pinot Noir at an accessible price. The wines tend to be lighter and more fruit-forward than Burgundy, with less oak influence. If you enjoy the elegance of Burgundy Pinot but not the price tag, Touraine is well worth exploring.
