Carambouille 2024 by Les Vignerons d'Estezargues — Chillable Natural Red via Emile Wines
Carambouille is a chillable, Grenache-led natural red from one of France's most respected cooperatives — Les Vignerons d'Estezargues in the Rhone Valley. Translucent ruby in the glass, bursting with fresh cherry and grenadine, and dangerously easy to drink. The name means ""hoax"" in local dialect, but the wine is the real deal.
Built to be drunk straight from the fridge
This is a red wine that wants to be chilled. Pull it from the fridge, pour it at around 9–11°C, and watch it come alive — crunchy red fruit, sweet spice, tangerine on the edges. It's 70% Grenache with Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, Mourvedre and a dash of Counoise, blended into something that's fresh, supple and ridiculously drinkable. Aged six months in concrete, nothing more.
Natural wine with proper organic credentials
Les Vignerons d'Estezargues have been making natural wine since before it was trendy — the cooperative shifted to minimal-intervention winemaking in the 1980s, and nearly all its vineyards are now certified organic. No commercial yeast, no enzymes, no fining, no filtration. The vines for Carambouille are 25 years old on average, planted in heavy clay mixed with pebbles that naturally keep yields low and flavour concentrated.
A label with proper shelf appeal
Carambouille looks the part too. It's the kind of bottle you'd leave out on the table at a dinner party — clean, contemporary, French without trying too hard. At this price, you're getting serious natural wine quality from a producer that supplies some of the world's best wine lists. Your kitchen counter deserves this.

What food goes with Carambouille?
It's incredibly versatile. Charcuterie boards, grilled vegetables, pizza, a simple roast chicken — Carambouille works with all of it. It's also brilliant as an aperitif on its own, especially chilled on a warm evening. Think real food, not fine dining.

Carambouille is a Grenache-dominant blend: 70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 9% Cinsault, 6% Carignan, 4% Mourvedre, and 1% Counoise. It's made from organically farmed grapes, with indigenous yeast fermentation and no fining or filtration.
Should you chill Carambouille?
Yes — Carambouille is designed to be served chilled. Take it out of the fridge a couple of hours before serving, or pour it at around 9–11°C. Chilling it brings out the fresh fruit character and makes it even more drinkable.
