Bon Bon Zero Merlot

Bon Bon Zero Merlot — Non-Alcoholic Red Wine

Bon Bon Zero Merlot is a non-alcoholic red wine made from organic Merlot grapes, dealcoholised in Germany by producers who've been doing this since 1907. It's medium-bodied with black cherry, blackcurrant and dried plum flavours — a 0% red that actually has the depth and structure to stand up to a proper meal. In a bottle that's genuinely one of the best-looking things in our shop.

A non-alcoholic red with actual backbone

If you've tried alcohol-free red wine before and been disappointed, we get it. Most of them taste thin and slightly sweet, like blackcurrant cordial with delusions of grandeur. Bon Bon Zero Merlot is different. Organic Merlot grapes, properly fermented, then dealcoholised at low temperature to keep the flavour and texture intact. You get black cherry and plum up front, a hint of red pepper on the finish, and a velvety feel that genuinely reminds you this started life as real wine.

Art on the label, wine in the bottle

Every Bon Bon bottle features original artwork by internationally recognised artists — names that have worked with Apple, Gucci and Spotify. The Merlot label is bold, distinctive and impossible to ignore. It looks as good on a dinner table as anything in your wine rack, which matters — because the whole point of a great bottle is that it makes the moment feel special, alcohol or not.

Organic, vegan and low in calories

Made from organic grapes, vegan-friendly, and roughly a third of the calories of regular Merlot. No additives, no artificial flavours. Whether you're doing Dry January (or Dry March, or Dry Whenever), pregnant, driving, or simply want a glass of red with dinner without the alcohol, this delivers without the usual compromises.

About Bon Bon

Bon Bon is a Seoul-born drinks brand that pairs Korean creative vision with some of Europe's most experienced winemakers. Their Zero range is produced in Germany by Carl Jung — a family producer that's been pioneering dealcoholised wine in the Rheingau for over a century. The combination of Korean design culture and German winemaking precision is what makes Bon Bon feel genuinely different from the growing crowd of 0% wine brands. Every label is an artist collaboration, every wine is organic, and nothing feels like an afterthought.

At Natty, we stock Bon Bon because the bottles are beautiful, the wine inside is genuinely good, and the whole brand feels like it was made for people who care about taste and aesthetics — which is exactly our lot. See the full Bon Bon Zero range at Natty.

When to pour a glass of Bon Bon Merlot

With food, ideally. This Merlot has enough body to pair with a pasta bolognese, roast chicken, grilled mushrooms, or a proper cheese board. It also works with spicier dishes — Korean barbecue, gochujang anything, or a rich Thai red curry. If you wouldn't think twice about pairing a regular Merlot with it, this'll hold up.

For a dinner party where some people are drinking and some aren't, this is the bottle that means nobody feels like they're missing out. It looks the part, it tastes the part, and it sits alongside the alcoholic wines on the table without looking like the odd one out. Pair it with our Doom Juice Rouge for an evening where everyone's glass is worth raising.

Frequently asked questions

What does Bon Bon Zero Merlot taste like?

Medium-bodied with black cherry, blackcurrant and dried plum flavours, followed by subtle hints of red pepper on the finish. It has a smooth, velvety texture and more depth than most non-alcoholic reds. It's noticeably less sweet than many 0% red wines, which makes it feel more like an actual glass of Merlot.

What food pairs well with Bon Bon Zero Merlot?

It works with the same food you'd pair with a regular Merlot — tomato-based pasta, roast chicken, grilled veg, mushroom dishes, or a cheese board with cheddar and manchego. It also handles spicier food well, particularly Korean-inspired dishes, barbecue, or curries where the fruitiness can balance the heat.

Can I get Bon Bon Zero Merlot delivered in Bristol?

Absolutely. Natty delivers same-day across Bristol postcodes BS1 to BS16 — order before 2pm and it arrives by 8pm. Local delivery is £3.50, or free if you spend over £40. You can also pick up from our Willway Yard bottle shop in Bedminster on Fridays and Saturdays.

How is Bon Bon Zero Merlot made?

It starts as conventional Merlot wine — organic grapes, properly fermented — then the alcohol is removed using low-temperature dealcoholisation in Germany. This process preserves the flavour, aroma and texture of the wine while bringing the ABV below 0.5%. It's produced by Carl Jung, a German family producer with over a century of experience in dealcoholised winemaking.

Is Bon Bon Zero Merlot suitable for vegans?

Yes. It's vegan-friendly and made from organic Merlot grapes with no animal-derived products used in production. It's also gluten-free, low in calories, and free from artificial additives.
