White Lies, New Theory, South Africa

New Theory White Lies — skin-contact Pinot Gris from South Africa

New Theory White Lies is a clean, vibrant skin-contact wine made from Pinot Gris in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Four days on skins gives it a gorgeous grapefruit-and-peach character with just enough texture to make things interesting. If you've been curious about orange wine but didn't know where to start, this is your bottle.

Skin contact without the funky reputation

White Lies spends four days on its skins — enough to pick up a beautiful golden hue and light, silky grip, but not so much that it gets weird. The result is a wine that sits somewhere between a crisp white and a full orange: refreshing, aromatic and seriously drinkable. Grapefruit, ripe peach and a hint of white flowers on the nose, clean stone fruit on the palate.

Stellenbosch elevation, False Bay breezes

The Pinot Gris grapes are grown at elevation in Stellenbosch, where cool breezes rolling off False Bay and granite-rich soils keep things fresh and mineral. Hand-harvested, spontaneous fermentation, no fining — New Theory lets the vineyard do the heavy lifting. It's 12.5% ABV, 100% vegan and made with sustainable farming practices throughout.

Designed to look as good as it drinks

New Theory's bottles are some of the best-looking on the shelf. White Lies features a hand-drawn character by illustrator James Graham — quirky, distinctive and the kind of label that earns a spot on your kitchen counter long after the wine's gone. This is a brand built by people who care about design as much as what's inside.

About New Theory

Founded in 2021 by Charlie and Thom Bradley, New Theory (previously Nouveau) works with top South African growers to create low-intervention wines for people who want good taste without the gatekeeping. Thom's background in graphic design shapes every bottle — from the hand-drawn characters to the deliberately non-wine-world branding. They've grown from 3,000 bottles in their first vintage to over 150,000, and sell through Selfridges, Whole Foods and independent retailers across the UK.

New Theory shares our belief that wine should be fun, accessible and look great on your table. That's why they're on our shelves. Explore the full New Theory range at All Natty.

Who is White Lies for?

If you love a crisp white but want something with a bit more character, White Lies is the perfect step sideways. It's an ideal introduction to skin-contact and orange wines — all the intrigue, none of the intimidation. Serve it straight from the fridge with seafood, summer salads or a decent cheese board.

It also makes a cracking gift. The bottle looks brilliant, the wine is crowd-pleasing, and nobody needs to know what skin contact means to enjoy it. Pair it with something from our snacks collection for a properly thoughtful present.

Frequently asked questions

What does New Theory White Lies taste like?

White Lies has a bright, aromatic nose of grapefruit, ripe peach and white flowers. On the palate, it's clean and refreshing with stone fruit flavours, a gentle textural grip from the skin contact, and a crisp finish. It's approachable, fun and far less intense than many orange wines.

Is White Lies an orange wine?

Technically, yes — it's a skin-contact wine, which is what gives orange wines their colour and texture. But White Lies only spends four days on skins, so it's much lighter and more approachable than full-on orange wines. Think of it as a white wine with a bit of extra personality.

How should you serve White Lies?

Straight from the fridge. It's perfect with seafood, light salads, sushi or a cheese board. It also works brilliantly as an aperitif — pour a glass while you're figuring out what to have for dinner.

Can I get White Lies delivered in Bristol?

Absolutely. All Natty delivers same-day across Bristol BS1–BS16 when you order by 2pm. Local delivery is £3.50 or free over £40. We also ship UK-wide with 2-day priority delivery for £8.50.

Is New Theory White Lies vegan?

Yes. All New Theory wines are 100% vegan, unfiltered and made with minimal intervention. White Lies contains sulphites but no animal-derived fining agents, added sugar or concentrates.
