The Wharie Experience

The Wharie Experience — Minimal-Intervention Wine from Hampshire's New Forest

The Wharie Experience is the work of Guillaume Lagger, a Swiss-trained oenologist making wine, cider, and mead on a small farm near Sway in the New Forest. What makes Wharie different from most English vineyards is the grape varieties: Guillaume grows exclusively PIWI grapes — disease-resistant varieties that need virtually no spraying. The result is genuinely low-intervention English wine from a vineyard that hasn't been sprayed since planting. No shortcuts, no gimmicks — just good farming and careful winemaking in one of the prettiest corners of Hampshire.

Why PIWI grapes matter

Most English vineyards rely on conventional varieties like Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, which need regular spraying to survive the British climate. Guillaume took a different path. His vineyard is planted entirely with PIWI varieties — Solaris, Sauvignac, Souvignier Gris, Muscaris, Pinotin, Cabernet Noir, and more. These grapes have natural resistance to fungal disease, which means the vineyard runs with minimal chemical input. It's a quietly radical approach that lets the land and the fruit do the talking. Try the Orion 2022 for a taste of what these varieties can do.

Award-winning Hampshire wine

Small vineyard, big reputation. The Wharie Experience picked up the Still Trophy at the 2022 International English Wine Awards for their Pinot Gris, along with a Gold Medal for their Orange Bacchus. Their Ortega 2023 — described as ""50% orange wine, 50% white wine, 100% delicious"" — won Silver at the IEWA25. For a vineyard where the first vines went into the ground in 2021, that's a seriously impressive start.

A Swiss winemaker in the New Forest

Guillaume Lagger trained in Switzerland before moving to his partner's family farm in Hampshire. He brought with him a philosophy built on restraint: cultivate the vines to their full potential by keeping intervention to a strict minimum. The Wharie Experience operates as a micro winery on a 6.5-hectare farm, with 1.8 hectares of vines and an additional hectare of fruit trees. Visits are welcome by appointment — it's one of the few places in the UK where you can taste a proper range of PIWI wines.

The Wharie Experience wines at All Natty

We currently stock two wines from The Wharie Experience: the Orion 2022, a standout white that shows exactly what PIWI varieties can deliver in Hampshire, and The Rosé, a fresh, minimal-intervention pink from the same New Forest vineyard. Both are made with Guillaume's hands-off approach — grown clean, fermented with care, and bottled without fuss.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of wines does The Wharie Experience make?

The Wharie Experience produces still white, rosé, and red wines from PIWI grape varieties grown in Hampshire's New Forest. They also make cider and mead from fruit trees on the same farm. The wines are made with minimal intervention — Guillaume's philosophy is to let the fruit express itself with as little interference as possible. At All Natty, you can try the Orion 2022 and The Rosé.

What are PIWI grapes?

PIWI stands for ""pilzwiderstandsfähig"" — a German word meaning fungus-resistant. These grape varieties have been bred to resist common vine diseases like mildew, which means they need far less spraying than traditional varieties. The Wharie Experience grows varieties including Solaris, Sauvignac, Souvignier Gris, Muscaris, Pinotin, and Cabernet Noir.

Top Cuvee Wines

Top Cuvée — Wine For Everyone, No Pretence Required

Top Cuvée started as a neighbourhood wine bar in Highbury, North London, and quickly became one of the city's most loved spots for natural wine. When the pandemic forced the restaurant to close its doors, founders Brodie Meah and Max Venning did what any resourceful hospitality team would do — they pivoted. Local bike deliveries turned into a full online wine shop, and Shop Cuvée became one of the fastest-growing brands on Shopify in 2020. All Natty stocks Top Cuvée wines in Bristol because their approach to wine matches ours perfectly: brilliant quality, zero snobbery.

The Story Behind the Wine

Brodie Meah's background reads like a hospitality CV that overachieved — he cut his teeth at Dinner by Heston before opening Top Cuvée with Max Venning. The restaurant was built on seasonal small plates and a constantly rotating wine list that favoured small producers, natural methods, and above all, wines the team genuinely loved to drink. From day one, the philosophy was simple: great wine should be accessible, not intimidating.

That philosophy survived — and thrived through — lockdown. What started as a scramble to stay afloat turned into something much bigger. Hundreds of local deliveries became thousands of UK-wide shipments. The one-page restaurant wine list expanded into a curated online shop carrying some of the most exciting natural wines from Europe and beyond. Today, Top Cuvée is not just a restaurant — it is a wine brand, retailer, and cultural force with multiple London venues including Cave Cuvée, an intimate wine bar in Bethnal Green, and a community that includes over 66,000 Instagram followers.

What Makes Top Cuvée Special

The team's background in hospitality means they approach wine selection differently from most retailers. Every bottle in the Top Cuvée range has been chosen by people who serve wine to real customers every night — not by buyers sitting in an office tasting from samples. They know which wines spark conversations, which ones make people order a second glass, and which ones newcomers fall in love with at first sip.

The range runs from what they describe as "cloudy and weird" through to "clean and classy" — which tells you everything about their inclusive approach. There is no house style beyond quality and drinkability. You will find pét-nats and orange wines for the adventurous, alongside approachable reds and crisp whites for anyone who just wants something reliably good in their glass.

Who Top Cuvée Is For

Anyone who has ever felt intimidated by a wine list will find Top Cuvée refreshing. Their entire mission is built around breaking down the barriers that make wine feel exclusive. Whether you are a first-timer who has never tried a natural wine or a seasoned drinker who knows their Gamay from their Grenache, Top Cuvée meets you where you are.

Their wines also make fantastic gifts. The branding is bold and recognisable, and the quality behind it means you are giving someone a bottle they will actually enjoy rather than one that gathers dust. Pair a Top Cuvée bottle with something from our snack range and you have got a ready-made evening sorted. Or explore our wider wine collection to build a mixed case with Top Cuvée as the centrepiece.

Torres Crisps

Torres Crisps — Spanish Gourmet Crisps Since 1969

Torres — or Patatas Torres, if you want the full name — is a Barcelona-based family business that has been making premium crisps since 1969. What started as a churro shop in Premià de Mar has grown into Spain's most respected gourmet crisp brand, exported to over 50 countries and recognised by food lovers who refuse to settle for standard supermarket packets. All Natty stocks Torres in Bristol because they represent exactly what we look for: producers who take something familiar and elevate it through genuine quality and care.

Why Torres Crisps Are Different

The difference is the oil. While most crisp brands fry in sunflower or vegetable oil, Torres use extra virgin olive oil — a balanced blend of three olive varieties, hand-harvested from groves in Cordoba's mountain ranges, with naturally low acidity. It changes everything. The texture is lighter, the crunch is cleaner, and there is a subtle richness that cheap oils cannot replicate. Once you taste the difference, going back to standard crisps feels like a downgrade.

Then there are the potatoes themselves. Torres selects only the highest-calibre potatoes grown on the Iberian Peninsula, sourced from growers they have worked with for over 35 years. That consistency of supply means consistency of product — every bag delivers the same quality whether you are buying your first or your fiftieth.

The Range at Natty

Torres' Selecta range pays tribute to the bold flavours of Spanish haute cuisine. At All Natty, we stock the flavours that best complement our wine, cocktail, and snack selection. Pickle Crisps deliver a sharp, tangy dill punch that pairs brilliantly with white wine and sparkling. Hot Smoked Paprika Crisps use De la Vera DOP paprika — slow-smoked over oak fires in Extremadura — for deep, warming heat that works alongside red wine and cocktails.

Three Generations of Crisp Making

The Torres story started with Manuel Torres and his wife opening a churro shop. Their sons, Manolo and Juan, expanded production while keeping the original shop open — a nice detail that tells you something about the family's relationship with their roots. The business has since been taken over by the García-Llagostera family, who brought the brand to the international market while maintaining the artisanal quality and tradition that built it. Three generations, one consistent standard: make the best crisps you can, using the best ingredients available.

Who Torres Crisps Are For

Anyone who has ever looked at a sharing board and wished the crisps were as good as the cheese and charcuterie. Torres crisps belong on proper snack spreads — pair them with Olives Et Al olives and nuts, a decent cheese, and a bottle from our wine range and you have got tapas night sorted without leaving the house.

They are also for the person who eats crisps alone at 10pm and wants that experience to feel slightly more considered. No judgement — we are those people too. Browse more from our deli selection.
